You are right about the poles, and their labeling. I use postage return address labels and scotch tape to label my poles and tip ups.
As for the Shelter, what was the name of the Warden you talked too? Because that interpretation is not what our fishing regulations say.
The regs say, "Any person utilizing an Ice Fishing Shelter on the waters of the state shall label the shelter externally with the owners name and address."
