Taking I-15 to McCammon and then over to Lava is the best way. In my experience, if the roads are particularly bad, I've had better luck going over Fish creek summit and going through Bancroft and down through the town of Chesterfield. Good luck, if it snows much during the day before you go it can be an interesting trip but you should be able to make it. Have fun.
