Here is some excellent info. sent to me from Road, an experienced Strawberry guru!
"Bait fishing the berry is where I excell. Nightcrawlers are my number bait, followed closely by minnows (shinners-chubs). Powerbait when nothing else is working, though I have a collection of it. It is seldomed used any more. Now if you don't mind hinking a little the Horse creek drainage area is always good this time of year. Also south of Haws point where the old road use to run around the lake has been very productive. I took an 11 and 9 cutt there last year. One off minnow the other off nightcrawler. The west side of Indian Creek along where the old irrigation ditch use to be is also another good spot. I wish I could help you out with the Soldier Creek side of the lake but I seldon fish there. The places I mentioned are pretty good for shore fishing, even when I had my boat I shore fished more than anything else. Now on Saturday when you get the Pontoon there are a couple of places I like. But be sure to ask them at the store where they have been biting. I mean they don't give away those boats anymore. Up by Jakes bay there are a couple of small island, fishing between them and the main shore has been real good in the past I haven't been there this year as yet though. Also around Sage Hen Knoll (it's also an island well it was last year anyway) fishing the south side is productive and fishing the sumerged point on the east side of the knoll is also good."
