Hell, for 300 bucks, you can't go wrong! Those little boats look pretty stable, and with a v-hull, you could handle some of the chop that mead can throw at you.I think they have a livewell, and a battery box. I would suggest getting an outboard motor for it. Maybe a 5 or 7 HP. I saw one guy pushing one of those around with a trolling motor, and it was hardly moving. I beat him out of the marina in my kayak, and I can only paddle around 3.5mph.
