You'll probably get a lot of suggestions, but a pole I used for both bass and crappies this season was a 7' Med/Light spinning rod with a moderately fast action. On that rod, I threw almost exclusively in-line spinners. I caught many nice sized crappie as well as 2 to 4 pound chain pickerel, smallmouth, and largemouth bass with it.
