It was fully with his support that I even continued hunting, and given my record with helping the DWR convict known poachers in Box Elder, Tooele and Millard counties, including people who I've been friends with my entire life, I know I have little to worry about. And I talked with him again today, and he said he found no illegal activities with the situation. He'll be the one to investigate any allegations, given its his jurisdiction. Given the fact that I do NOT possess any part of the other deer, including his antlers, I am not in the wrong. It's simply another deer lost to a lion."

I would like to know the name of this CO friend of yours. All of the ones i know would have cited you for what you did!
That's kinda funny you said you talked to the CO with the jurisdiction of that area and he would be the one to investigate it and nothing illegal happened.
I talked to the INVESTIGATOR for that area today and he said you were 100% illegal! I think your CO friend as well as you should be charged in the case.
It is one thing to tag an animal and loose it to a lion(they will give you a new tag if they see that is the story)it is another to gut a TROPHY animal and leave it for tomorrow without tagging it and then shoot another buck on the tag you should have already notched. That is called Wonton Distruction Of Wildlife.[frown]
You said you have turned in lifelong friends for poaching, i just turned my 1st cousin in for poaching a 34" buck. Good for you, we need more people like that. Oh wait.....
