may times I have found that google areal photos work well enough to put me on or near the fish. just looking at sand bars and dropoffs is a good indication that structure in near by.
the google earth photos also offer gps information so when I get on the water I can plug in the info and head directly to my target area... this is a real help when you dont know the lake.
I for a long time used conturing maps. they are a great help when wanting to know where the holes are....
