Right across the street from where you get off the criuse ship is a great store to buy gifts, from T shirts that are "three for $10.00" to Eskimo art that cost big bucks.
You have got to see the glacier that is right outside town, I think the criuse ships offer a bus that will take you up to the glacier. Awesome view and if the samon are running the bears will be there chowing down.
Less than two years ago I bought a one day license at Auke bay for $10.00 and caught and released 10 to 30 pound salmon until my shoulders were sore from fighting those big kings. I don't think the Kings are running this early but the Reds might be. It might be a problem for you to do any fishing unless you want to rent a car, Auke bay is about 6 or 7 miles out of town but there is a cool fish ladder on the way that has a glass panel that you can watch the fish through. What ever you do have a good time and keep a watch out for whales and killer whales and dolphins, oh my. WH2
