I see what your saying,
it never dawned on it to me because in michigan if you own a hand gun and transfer ownership, both the seller and the buyer must report the transaction, the new owner must show up at their local ordinance office with the prepossessed permit and the gun, and the seller must turn in the copy of the permit that the buyer had to give them in order to buy the gun from them....
in michigan you cant buy a handgun untill you obtain a permit, there for you still own the hand gun and if it shows up in a crime seen you are the one responcible for it...
if it is stolen and you dont report it before the crime is commited you will be prossicuted along with the asailent. provided they find an asailent....
tough law, but it works....
if your a law biding citizen you will report when the ownership is transfered, that is why I dont beleive some one comming in from out of the contry "not a citizen" should be allowed a hand gun.
