there are federal laws in affect that reguard to guns and selling guns.
hand guns are registered no matter what state your in, if you dont think so, contact your local munisipality.
different states have different hoops you need to jump though to perchase a hand gun leagly so you must stay on top of that localy.
there are also federal restrictions on who may own a fire arm, and beleive it or not, many of our leading polititions are banned from owning a fire arm because they are convicted fellons themselves.
A fellon may run for and hold political office but my not own or be in possesion of a fire arm.... Not even while in office... I often wonder what a federal firearm search warrent would turn up in some of those house holds.... This means that a fire arm can not be in the house alone with a fellon, dosnt matter if the gun belongs to a spouse, sibbling, or child or visiting guest ect.... It dosnt even matter if the gun has a lock on it..... If it is their home and the gun is in it they are in possesion...
federal laws are quite clear as to who may own, possess, transport a fire arm.
there is one weekness in the law I dont realy care for and that is the ability of a non resident of this country who can perchas a fire arm and worse yet being able to cary it conceiled....
if they are a visiting dignitary the dont need personal protection guns because they are under constant police protection....
and as far as transporting hunting arms they must have a licence to hunt in the state they are carrying the gun in.
Michigan has laws as to when you may transport a fire arm.
I dont know what state your in, but you may want to contact your local office or pull up gun laws for your state. you may find they are far more stringent than you are lead to beleive.
