A flathead will eat just about anything as long as it stinks and lays still on the bottom Smile Cut bait works well for this purpose. - shad, perch, etc...

Then, there are days when they won't hit anything unless it's alive and kicking...like a live blue gill or a bullhead or any other live fish that 's about 6-8 inches long.
