In my view, if the water level goes down during spawning season, the amount of fry hatch will be low since cover at lower depths is usually thin at best. Water levels rising can be a plus since it creates more cover for the largemouth and it's hatch with all the vegetation on the banks. Smallmouth populations aren't affected as much as largemouth, in my estimation, in the lake environment.
