Well, as you can see, i posted the same question, but I decided to do some research, and i found this is one of the best ways to catch a gar- Use a small treble hook with a minnow around 3 three inches long. Hook the minnow in the back around the top of the tail, then add a float(If the current is rough, use a weight instead of a float).If a gar hits, let it run a little ways before setting the hook. While it runs, it starts to swallow the minnow, making it easier to hook.
