Using the chenille or not - This particular fly would lend itself to using longer hackle than you normally use for a fly. then you can trim the hackle to the size you want all around the fly to yeild the profile that you want.
A good method for using some of those hackle that are too long to use for other things.
Using several different colored hackles and wrapping each of them the entire length of the shank and then trimming them down to a narrow profile you end up with some thing than can pass a cassed caddis nymph. Use a Bright green thread for the head.
