I felt nothing here but there was a thump in the closet. Then a good 10 minutes later there was another thump in the closet but I never felt a thing.
MacFly - it is a simple tie. You could also do it without the chenille. Just do touching wraps of hackle. If you do the latter you can strengthen the hackles in several ways.
1. Counter wrap wire or thread through the hackles after you have the hackles wrapped and tied down.
2. Apply adhesive such as Dave's Fleximent or head cement, or Zap-A-Gap gel to the shank just before you wrap the hackle for each section of hackle.
3. After you have completed the fly apply a thin head cement like Griffith's thin to the hackles. The cement will instantly wick to the shank. Let it set for about 5 seconds and then flick the eye of the hook while it is still in the vice. Any excess Griffith's thin clinging to the hackle fibers that did not wick down to the bottom will be flicked into the air and evaporate.
