I used to live in fort lauderdale and I spent alot of time in the keys... There are many things larger than you and your kayak out there swimming around, and when you are on the water you are in their territory.

I got bumped in my small boat one time by a 6ft, bull shark, and it definitely made me think twice everytime I launched after that... Glad to hear you weren't injured.
