As for spinnerbaits, you can retreive them at a speed that barely keeps the blades turning or fast enough to make a little wake on the top of the water. Try both and everything between.
For shallower water, get some Senko-style soft stickbaits (worms), rig them weightless and throw them around cover like docks or lilly pads or a fallen tree.
In deeper water, you'll want some weight to get the lure down to the fish. A fish finder really helps in deeper water because you'll see if they are suspended or hugging the bottom. Since the weather has heated up, I've been rigging Senko worms Carolina-style and actually doing very well with LMB.
