Hey Pal,

Here is a diagram of some basic rigs for fishing.

If you google "fishing rigs" and select images you will find more and hopefully this will help. I know it is frustrating not knowing what works where and then you ask at the local bait shop and they tell you to use a senco carolina rigged with a half-ounce bullet andyou are thinking, "Is this guy speaking english?" LOL...
Get familiar with different kinds of rigs and setups and read, read, read. Of course none of that will do you any good if you do not get out on the water and try what you have learned over and over again.
By the way, when I put a sliding weight behind a swivel I will put a small plastic bead between the weight and swivel to protect the knot.
