Cherry Creek?
#5
jason, I'd recommend the first pond out on post at Fort Carson in the springs. you really can't keep up with the amount of rainbows that you could catch. I went out there with a soldier buddy and it was nonstop action from the time I cast in. they're not picky on bait or lures, either...I chose to use panther martins, 'cause I've never been much for live bait fishing, but my friend was nailing them on nightcrawlers also.

just keep in mind that you need a fort carson fishing permit to fish any of the ponds on base. it costs 20$, if I recall correctly. if you're in Broomfield it may not be worth the cost of the permit and travel - not sure. if you don't find another option for sure trout action for a kid, though, this place has it. oh, and my nephew is moving back from maine right now and I plan to take him fishing a lot...so if you have a son/nephew/whatever we could all hook up for a fishing trip on a friday or saturday - just lemme know. g'luck!
