No current law exists to protect an animal that officialy does not exist except in Snokomish County, Washington. There anyone person caught can face poaching charges. Of course, if they kille a person in a costume it would be murder and the would be sent to prison. That is why they enacted the law there. Too many Bigfoot reports and they thought so hoaxer may end up getting shot? Would you risk dressing up in a Gorill suit? This supports the authenticity of Bigfoot sightings all the more.
Everywhere else it is perfectly legal to shoot and kill a Bigfoot/Sasquatch. I don't have the guts to do this though. I can't help thinking that there would be another one close by, and before I could re-load or aim I would be lethaly and quickly killed.
Bob Gimlin has said that he considered shooting the Bigfoot they filmed. They had agreed not to before but he said he was afraid more would come out of the area and get violent towards them.
