(Poll) Do you believe in Bigfoot??

[#000000]You wrote:[/#000000] "Firt, let me say that all the information I have written in these Bigfoot posts is taken or I should say paraphrased from Bigfoot evidence books that I have read."

[#008000]That is perfectly acceptable. However, you really need to properly give them credit when you do that. Otherwise, it is natural for the reader to think that it is your work and your's alone. To not give them credit is called plagiarism and is intellectually dishonest.[/#008000]

[#000000]You wrote:[/#000000] "Second, I would like to mention that Grover Krantz, Jeff Meldrum, and the members of the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization are biologists just like yourself.

[#008000]I have read their bios, and I am not sure that you have a good understanding of what you are saying here. Yes, I am a Biologist. And, so are (were) they. The field of biology is enormous and extremely diverse. Maybe you shouldn't dump all scientists in one bucket and call it good. [/#008000]

[#000000][#000000]You wrote:[/#000000] "Their combined experience is on the order of thousands of times more than yours. "[/#000000]

[#008000]I'm not sure what exactly that has to do with what I wrote previously, but, I will agree that they probably have spent much more time chasing bigfoot than I have. I am curious as to exactly how you came up with the "on the order of a thousand times" though. [/#008000]

You wrote:"Yes, as I said I have trained my dogs... I have developed no strategies of my own."

[#008000]Perhaps it would be better then to not imply that you are talking from experience when attempting to counter someone's statements as if you were in fact in possession of that kind of knowledge.[/#008000]

[#008000][#000000]You wrote:[/#000000] "[/#008000][#000000]Gorrilas, in thier environment detect dogs hundreds of feet away... but an intelligent abe who can connecat a dog to a person is obviously better at hiding from one."[/#000000]

[#008000]I am unsure what that statement actually is supposed to mean. Are you aware that hounds can detect an animal from distances of anywhere from hundreds to thousands of yards away ? And follow trails that are up to 2 weeks old ? Hiding is not an option when dealing with scent oriented animals like canines. Also, primates (none of the known ones) are not that well equipped in either hearing nor olfactory senses. BTW - Your german shepard would be doing fabulous if it could follow one that is only 2 days old (shepards are not scent hounds). [/#008000]

[#008000]Since you mentioned you like nature stuff, I thought you might be interested in these short video clips:[/#008000]

[#008000]You really should see [#000080]THIS VIDEO[/#000080] for a little perspective on animal differences. [/#008000]

[#008000](Pay close attention to the Mastiff - as you will see, that is very close to my breed of hound, except mine are larger).[/#008000]

[#000000]You wrote:[/#000000] "Bigfoots have been reported by poeple to keep up with a 45 mph moving car. "

[#008000]Is this a verified documented fact (if so, please supply a valid reference) or, is this second hand speculation (if so, do not claim it to be a fact) ?[/#008000]
[#008000][/#008000]
[#000000]You wrote:[/#000000] "You know dang well that some wolves have been recorded at 42 mph, but no domestic dog breed except the race hounds will reach above 35 mph, especially in thick brush and wood. On the other hand, a 7 1/2 foot ape, with a stride lenght of almost 6 feet will easiy outrun any track dog. As I said, the idea of using tracking dogs is almost completely unreliable.

[#008000]I don't know where you obtained your information about dogs, but, here is the real scoop; Grey hounds can run 45 mph, wolves run about 35-40 on a short sprint. Regardless of the sprinting, wolves and hounds can cover 20-30 miles without resting. Bipedal primates (except highly trained marathon runners) are known to be physically unable to do that.[/#008000] [#008000]Since canines can run at the speeds you suggest for Bigfoot and can cover more ground faster than any known bipedal primate species, why are you asserting that the use of tracking dogs would be unreliable ?[/#008000]

[#008000]OK, if and when you have a chance to consider the questions I have presented, here are some possible examples of how to give credit for other people's ideas and work. I am taking the liberty to include some information from just a few of Dr. Meldrum's critics. Just so folks can get the "rest of the story". [/#008000]

[#800000]"And the question of how science on the fringe should be dealt with remains open: some observers say that Meldrum, who has been lambasted by colleagues and passed over for promotion twice, should just be left alone to do his thing; others counter that in this era ... and widespread antiscience sentiment and scientific illiteracy, it is particularly imperative that bad science be soundly scrutinized and exposed."[/#800000]
