(Poll) Do you believe in Bigfoot??
#32
I have no idea whether or not that particular skull is from a real specimen. I would guess that it is not. There are specialists who reconstruct skulls and someone inexperienced would be hard pressed to determine their authenticity.

I think you probably misunderstoond what I meant by a natural dead bear. There are many skulls and bones as well as complete skeletons of modern and prehistoric bears. As far as I know and read, none of them were just found there in the woods laying out for someone to find. There has been only one such documented case by a group of archaeologists in Montana who did happen to stumple upon a bear skull. They were completely shocked at the contingency.

What we are talking about in this discussion are remains found by those who do not go looking for them directly. For example, some long-distance hiker who is planning to hike the highest peak in Utah.

Most remains are found buried or fossilized and are well out of sight of a passing human.

Dr. Lynn Rogers is perhaps the undisputed authority on bears and their biology. He has spent a substantial part of his life in the field researching them. Never has he just casually found a bone or bear remains just sittin out there to be seen. He has never found one when specifically looking for them either. The collections that universitites and amateurs posses have been collected over hundreds of years by countless people and man/woman hours. The likelyhood that any one human will come upon bear remains by accident is very remote.

What does this have to do with Bigfoot/Sasquatch? The best estimates so far aimed at projecting their population status are in the range of 2000-6000 individuals, with a maximum of 10000. The minimum breeding population has been approximated by primatologists to be around 300. Consider the combined size of the United States and Canada (where sightings of Bigfoot take place). It is over 7 million square miles. You tell me what the chances are of finding an easily seen and found bone of a Bigfoot? Also, how many people actively search for such? Less than 1000.

On the same note, there are very few bones of yearly homonids and apes. Everyone knows for certain that Chimpanzees and Gorillas exist. There are literally almost no bones or skulls of them. These apes used to number in the hundreds of thousands before humans other factors killed of large numbers. And Africa is a continent of over 1 billion people. It would seem logical to conclude that there are many bones and remains found. But such is not the case. Mountain Gorillas were not even discovered until about 100 years ago. Those who reported them then were treated the same was as those who report Bigfoots today. Simply disbelief.
