Catfish, man you really need to lay off of the Al Gore and Michael Moore documentaries, I'm getting worried about ya![

The whole problem with Electric or any other viable alternative energy is Capitalism, plain and simple. No one has been able to come up with a viable energy that is as cheap and reliable as products from the Fossil Fuel and Nuclear Industries.
The whole issue with the EV1 had absolutely nothing to due with the evil Oil companies, it was pure capitalism. GM could not make ANY MONEY with the EV1.
GM spent over 1 billion dollars to develop this car to meet California emission standards of zero emissions on new cars by 2003, and they had nothing but problems with it. The car was only suitable in "Warm" climates, and it was constantly being recalled because of battery issues. So in 2003 after 13 years of development GM decided that the EV1 was doomed when the expected breakthrough in battery technology had not taken place.
GM then decided it was cheaper to sue the state of California to change their emission standards than it was to continue and develope the EV1. Just to produce the EV1 cost GM $80,000 per car. GM also decided that once the leases for the EV1 expired they would destroy the cars because of the liabilty of fires caused by the battery while charging.
I do agree with you though Fossil Fuels need to go, but not because of Al Gore's fraud of Global Warming, but rather National Security.
Unlike the Liberal mentality though, I realize through examples such as the EV1, that alternative energy sources will not be readily and cheaply available for many years to come.
I will never support measures such as the Warner/Lieberman bill that was debated in the Senate this week, that keep us from using our own resources and limiting Carbon Emissions while forcing our country into a 3rd world power.
