No offense taken Kayote. I just highly disagree with how the average Utah angler puts the Utah Chub on the top of there "Bad Fish" list it is a native for hell sakes they are Utah natives. Out side of Utah a number of fisheries actually plant these and get them going as we have shad or shiners in Willard and Lake Powell. Manua is another good example. That used to hold huge fish that always had small chubs in them when caught. Since the poisoning it has been a good fishery but nothing like the prepoisoning days. And as for Trout not eating other fish and not competing well. If there are enough big trout that is definitely not the case. Look at Bear Lake. One last note is I caught 3 cutt's over 10 pounds in a three day period right before the poisoning at the Berry all of which I caught while capitolizing on them feeding on full size chubs. I still highly beleive they would have done fine if there had just been more big Cutts allowed to reach their potential predator size. I have not caught one that big since the poisoning. I am hoping to see some come back soon. We seem to rip them out fare before they reach 25" and really start feeding on true "meat". If Jordanelle had a bunch of 7 to 10 pound cutts along with some 4lb smallies the chubs would quickly become a thing of the past. At least they are able to manage the samllies OK. I hope to meet you on the water one day.
