Some won't that is true, but when it comes to this particular topic most opinions on both sides are based off of emotion rather than fact, and the SLC Trib article plays to that emotion.[/#808000]

[#808000]You never hear the facts such as while wolves under USFWS control they killed 724 wolves since the reintroduction in 1995. Last year alone they killed 87 wolves alone in the Greater Yellowstone Area with 63 of those being in Wyoming, and the overall population of the Greater Yellowstone Area still increased by an average of 20%. The 63 wolves killed in Wyoming in 2007 was 30% higher than the amount killed in 2006. Historicaly the amount of wolves killed in Wyoming by the USFWS has increased about 30% every year (the only exception is 2004 to 2005 where it only increase 10%). With this said it is estimated that in 2008 the USFWS would have killed approximately 82 wolves in Wyoming.[/#808000]

[#808000]You also only here the that 90% of the state of Wyoming is considered to be shoot on sight Predator area. While this is true you never hear that while 90% of the state is this way, less than 10% of the states population of wolves inhabit this area, and that the this area is not considered to be suitable wolf habitat. The USFWS estimates that only 30-35 wolves live in this area. As of the end of this last week 11 wolves have been Legally killed in Wyoming, 7 of those were killed in the Predator area of the state while 4 were killed in the Trophy management areas after ranchers were issued depredation permits to kill wolves that were killing livestock.[/#808000]

[#808000]Another fact that was noticed in 2007 was that wolf kills of elk in the GYA consisted of 58% bulls, 17% cows, and 24% calves. [/#808000]
