I only stretch mine when I am using it (if it needs it, in the summer it doesn't)
And when I do stretch I don't stretch the whole line. I just wait for a big fish to do that for me[laugh]
A good way is to put a rag over the ball receiver on you vehicle (if you have one) and grab the tip of your line with one hand and rod and reel with the other. Loop the line over the receiver and walk backwards. You don't need a lot of strength, you can break the outer cover.
EPCJMC, I am not crazy about those leather patches. You can't tell how much pressure you are applying, and I have seen people melt their line with those things.
