Comment on Glen Canyon Dam Flush (not the toilet!)
#27
Again, it is clear that you are exempt from following forum rules and are allowed to post attacks as you see fit...Whatever!

The reason that my brother and I continue to post is because we continually see all the misinformation that is spewed on this topic. You must be afraid of the facts.

For example, in the previous closed thread, you claimed that the river was almost left void of rainbow trout following the previous flood. A quick look at the facts and you would have seen a couple of truths: 1) the previous floods had very little impact on rainbow trout and the river actually saw increased recruitment following the flood--this FACT directly contradicts your "lyin' eyes" 2) flows during the heydays of the late 70s when trout fishing peaked reached highs of 25-30,000 CFS daily--in comparison the flood flows peaked at only 40,000 over a 3 day period. If the flood is going to have such a negative impact on trout populations as you claim has happened in the past, why did it not have the same impacts 30 years ago. Wait....let me answer that for you; it didn't and won't!

Also, for all the complaining on this board about the flood and saving the endangered species, how about letting Wayne Gustaveson--perhaps the single largest authority on Lake Powell speak of the effect this flood may have on sport fishing: "The flood may actually benefit lake sport fish. As I stated in my talk
at AFS floods draw sediment and nutrients out of the canyons toward the main lake where they are taken up by plant life. I hope to see an increase in shad that would be above that expected without the flood event."

Of course, though, you will probably close this thread like the other one in order to save some face and not look bad...again, whatever!
