Comment on Glen Canyon Dam Flush (not the toilet!)

We as a country are having a hard enough time trying to stabilize the economy, now you throw in the fact that we should try and stabilize the population of a fish??? [/reply]
The recession has little to do with the endangered species act. Let's not try to blame the recession a spring time flushing of Glen Canyon and the Colorado River. Apples to apples man. Apples to apples.

I would much rather have my tax money go to....cancer research or helping people in some sort of way rather than saving a fish. [/reply]

How do you know that the humpback chub cannot aid in cancer research, or helping people in some sort of way? That's the whole point! The potential benefits of ANY species may not be currently known!

So, I'll ask you again: How do you determine which species should be saved, and which should not? What makes one species more valuable than another?

FWIW -- the humpback chub was able to survive on its own! It wasn't until we showed up and changed the environment that it began to die off. That was OUR fault! US. Why shouldn't we attempt to fix what we broke?

Obviously, there are things that we cannot change -- but there are certainly things we can do to try to rectify the problem.

Any species is worth saving. Any.
