Fish finder for pontoon boat?
#28
I thought the fishin buddy 1200 was the answer, awesome concept - poor delivery. I bought one and took it out last Friday, the bottom showed @ 17 feet, but was actually 8 and at 8 ft it showed a constant line of fish - awful. Needless to say, it is going back to cabelas. Stumped for a solution, I pulled my old garmin 120 out and tried to figure out how to hook it up. I put a piece of pvc next to the tubing and whataya know, it was the same outside diameter - obviously a bigger size pvc could house it, didnt work though, just a fraction too small. I went back to lowes and found these union type T connectors with the neoporene washer pressure fit connection, perfect. Just T's a 3/4 piece down and now have a perfect transducer mount and a sonar that is infinitely better. Not as simple as clamping it on, but a much better end result. A great feature is that I can just pivot it up and keep it clear from obstructions. I just use an alarm battery - maiden voyage I used the one from the house alarm and it was perfect for the application.

In addition to not working like I thought it would, I had to disassemble the fishin buddy to get the batteries in it and when I took it apart to send it back, the entire inside was wet.
