This is soo wide open because not everyone will like the same things in a rod.
For me, for instance, when I catfish I cound on my rod to be in the dirt and sometimes I do night fishing. I have an ugly stick spinning reel/rod combo 6'6" long that is white, it is much easier to see at night than a dark rod.
I also have an ultra light rod, 7' long that I use for bass and panfish. The reel is a quantum but don't remember the rod maker. I also have some spinning rods and some baitcasting combos, one a walmart special "Rhino" and the other a Quantum I got at cabela's. My stuff is cheap but it serve it's purpose, at least for what I use them.
I have only been fishing for a couple of years and those rods and reels are good for me, maybe in the future I would buy something more specialized, for now I am ok.
