My vote for the strongest fish in Utah also goes to the humble carp. I snagged a big spawning carp in a small stream once, and I thought I had hooked the back bumper of a pickup truck taking off. Another day, float tubing at Burraston Ponds, I caught one on a wooly bugger, or should I say that it caught me? I didn't know what I had, and I didn't want to break my leader, so I just kept the pressure on and let the fish pull me around and around the pond for about 20 minutes. I have to admit, though, that I've never caught a big lake trout. Maybe one of them would put up an even stronger or longer right. Maybe not.
