Strongest Fish in the World
#24
[#0000ff]"I think pound for pound I might have to favor the bonito of the west coast. On suitable tackle those striped demons will kick your booty.
My vote for toughest freshwater fish? The lowly carp."[/#0000ff]

As much as it pains me, I have to agree with TubeDude on both counts. Up until the early 80's, it wasn't uncommon to get Pacific bonito up to and even over 15lbs while fishing for yellowtail (which is also a jack and a very mean fish.) The bonito would run circles around them. But like most good things they just disappeared. Even now, catching 2 or 3 pound fish on light tackle is quite a feat.

As far as the carp go, please, someone show me a fish with more heart and fight than a carp. I don't think you can.
