I think i've decided on what equipment i'm going to use for my battery system upgrade. First of all, after doing quite a bit of research, i'm going with the Minn Kota MK210. It not only has all the features I wanted, but it also has the best warranty and price. (3 year warranty at 109.00 dollars)
Next, i'm going with the Perko duel battery switch. This will allow me to pick which batteries I want to use, or run both in parallel. Which ever battery(s) are selected on are also charged by the motors alternator. This runs 29.99.
Lastly, i've decided to keep the old battery in tact for my accesory battery, and purchase a new batter as my cranking battery. After pricing other deep cycle batteries, the optima isn't that much more. So, i'll probably go with a single Optima deep cycle, the biggest one, for a little over 200.00 bucks. That should set me up perfectly for plenty of cold-natured 2 stroke cranking power and eliminate any worry I have about the boat not cranking due to a dead battery. Now I just have to save up the cheddar and make it happen.
