Looking for help with fly fishing

Hi Guys I'm headed to Alaska this summer and will be fishing for Salmon on some of there rivers and streams as well as taking some charters out of Homer. I am not a fly fisherman even though I have some gear I tend to like fishing with spinning rod equipment. I have used spinning rod and flies sucessfully in the past using a clear plastic float then a seven foot leader then the fly. I will be buying an assortment of pre tied flies from Bass Pro specific for Salmon in Alaska. Does anyone know of any other methods that I might use and what is my best knot for leader to mono? Chief
