I only have 1 small freshwater box and 1 large and 1 small saltwater box.
I don't need much tackle for freshwater fishing around here. The primary target species here is Catfish, bass, and panfish. Being that I don't target LMB very often, and when I do, I usually do so in farm ponds where a diverse tackle selection isn't necessary, I don't require a large assortment of lures. For panfishing, I mostly use live bait like wax worms or wigglers, so all I need there is small hooks, split shots, and micro bobbers. I also have a few beetle spins in an assortment of colors as well as popping flies. For cats, it's a carolina rig with a tiny spro swivel and a Kahl hook, so that doesn't take up much room. So, a smaller box does the trick for me.
My ocean fishing boxes are far more diverse, it's just all in a couple boxes. All my larger, offshore trolling equipment is stored in my small box since I don't use them very often and rarely take them with me since i've moved back from Guam. My larger box which gets frequent use is filled with an assortment of tackle that enables me to target specific species with a multitude of rigs. This requires many different types of hooks, sinkers, swivels, and skirts. Being that I make all my rigs, and much of the leader material I use is just heavy mono, I don't require multiple boxes. I have learned that in the world of saltwater fishing, if you have the capability to make your own rigs, then it saves alot of space in the tackle box. LOL I think tubN2 is just a pack rat, because I know he can make his own rigs. [
