Fly Fishing In Winter
#22
..hey sis.. if you go to this [red]Laguna Niguel[/red] update and about half way down you will see whree DR starts in with pictures and story... but to recap for you from my perspective...

TN2 got everything ready for us and then we walked down to the launch area.. maybe 60 - 75 yards.. once at the launch area we rigged our rods (in my case I started with my Sage launch).. I was using a "mouse" popper rigged with a dropper with one of your flies from this last fly swap..

..once ready TN2 and DR launched.. and Im standing there asking.. how do I get in this thing.. lol. but.. I figured that one out and got in the tube without incident.. I kicked over to where TN2 was and chatted a moment or two before he went on his own.. I think the big question at that point was.. how the he.. do I turn this thing.. TN2 told me and then I could hear him giggling as he glided away...

.. started with the fly rod until I got my line/leader/tippet so tangled in a not around the rod no choice but to break it down and put it across my lap.. I switched to a spinning rod I had with me with some plastics I had brought along..

.... I fished this rig for the rest of the day.. had some hard hits but no hook ups..

..I kept moving myself to differnt areas and was amazed at how easy it was to get where I wanted and how I could go literally anywhere I wanted on the lake to try get myself to the fish...it was a blast..

later
TN2 and DR and I gathered back in the same area of the lake and that is where the picture of TN2 and I was taken.. we fished in that area for at least another hour until we decided that after over 5 hours of fishing it was time to go back in..

.. hehe I got into shore okay but was about as graceful as a bull in a china shop getting out of the tube.. I fell to one knee several times (to the amusement of tn2 and dr).. tried to walk forward with fins on.. got a quick leg cramp.. and finally got this old butt out of the tube and up on shore.. after a bunch of good natured ribbing we hauled everything to our vehicles and stood around rehydrating and bs'ing about this and that.. a lot about my first tube trip balanced out with friendly talk about fishing.. tubes.. etc..

.. we all ended the day with a bite at a burger joint that bendopolo knew of and continued our talk of the days events.. past experiences... etc..

.. I have to say it was an absolute blast of a day and I definately look forward to the next meet up with this gang of anglers.. [sly]
