I'm glad people are thinking about these things. Conservation and the well being of the fish population should be a concern of every angler.
I think maybe they have to look at the bigger bigger picture here though and not just focus on one or two years in a certain geographic area. Lake Michigan is a HUGE lake and I don't think it's enough of a sample to draw good conclusions on the entire lake just yet.
As far as the "less is more" question....... hmmmm... would I rather catch more smaller fish or catch only a few big ones??? Not really sure, do they taste the same? [
] Do I get to keep more of the little ones? How many "big ones" can I catch? It would stink to go fishing and only be able to catch one or two fish and have to go home.
I'm all for conservation for deer hunting and letting the spike and 4 pointers go on and mature before harvesting. But all the 4 year old salmon are all going to die anyway.. so it's not really the same thing.
