sometimes those gulp minnows (3''-4'', in white or smelt) are the only things that will work for me. I went out on the kayak last weekend (sunday, 10-21) with the wifey. Launched off
dle island and headed out towards 33 hole. started out in search of a few boils, but with no luck. Trolled a lipless crankbait and 4'' gulp minnow (smelt) all the way from
dle cove out to within about a quarter mile of 33 hole. my wife caught 3 stripers on the troll (she was using the gulp), all were in the 1-2 lb range. my lipless crankbait pulled up nada. no big deal. we saw a mass of boats jigging for stripers about 9 o'clock or so back in the wash further. we figured we would join them and started heading towards them when a nasty wind picked up. i dont know if youve ever been on a kayak when the wind picks up on mead, but its the closest to hell that I ever want to be. Needless to say, the wind ended our trip prematurely. never made it to the boats jigging. hope to get back out in the next week or so.
