Lakes v. Rivers....?
#7
they were jumping up at midges that were hovering over the water, this is the time of year midges return to the water to lay eggs and die.

using a fly rod and an ant like or black misqueto type fly, you will nail them.... dont be suprized if they jump right up out of the water and hit your presentation on the fly...

midges kinda look like a cross between a wasp, ant, misqueto all rapped up in to one little bug... Size wise, a midge is like a 1/16 of an inch long and about the width of a large needle eye. they are so small they can crawl though the hole of a screen window... a misqueto is a giant in comparison to a midge...

last time I was out the trout on the lake I was on was doing the same thing. It looked like a vandercamp fish comercial. all that action and could not buy a bite... I was wishing I had brought my fly rod with me on that trip, I only had 6 rods with me on that trip... just not the right one.. LOL
