[#0000ff]I am also the moderator for the float tubing board, and have been tubing for over 50 years. I do not use anchors. I have tried the mesh bag and all different kinds of mechanical models. What it boils down to for me is that I do not fish in one place anyway. I move around. If I am casting to a "honey hole", I just position myself upwind and cast downwind. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If the wind gets too strong to hold, I go ashore. My style of fishing is "finesse"...or touch fishing...with light tackle and small lures. When the wind gets so strong that I cannot feel what is going on at the other end of my line, I leave the water.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One of the other major di
vantages of anchors is the rope. If it does not get tangled around your legs it is a potential for disaster when you hook a large fish. I have lost several big fish during the few times I have tried to use anchors, when fish made a few turns around the anchor rope. Light line does not hold up well against anchor ropes and tough fish.
