if I took it apart I would find the problem.
I beleive your cap is plastic, the spinnerhead is metal. so I doubt you would see any rubbing or grinding there.
I was just wondering what type of spinnerhead your reel had. if you take a look at the prostaff you wont see any grinding on that spinner head eather.
if you take a close look at the spinner head of the prostaff pic you will see that spinnerhead has a enylon ring on top.
if you have a black or red magic marker you may be able to find the grind. take the magic marker and color the inside of the cap, all the way around, place the cape back after threading the line though the hole,
once the cap is in place you can push the button on the back pull out some line, about 10 feet should do.
tie the end to a bed post and then back up and reel in the line.
once the line is reeled in take the cap off and see if any of the magic marker ink transfered to any thing, line or spinner head,
to get focused pictures you need to set your target down. if you are using a pc camera, you can set your camera on the desk and right in front on the desk put your target. dont wory about enlarging photos.
I always put something white behind my target, and some times I have to take several pictures to get one in focus. I am not perfect either. I took three of the prostaf to get one in focus showing the material I wanted shown.
the problem if there is a grind on the inside of the cap could be fairly simple as having a peice of sand or old line caught some where, to having a loose nut allowing the spinnerhead to be able to move up and down when reeling.
there are so many different types of spinner heads I cant tell you where to look with out knowing what type it is.
so if you can give me a photo of it, I may have a similar spinner head assembly here and I will be able to diagnose the problem.
I have about 50 zebco reels with about half dozen different spinner heads. I just need to know which one you have.
one of these days I will get around to documentering all my stuff.
if you are machanicaly inclined, when you find out what it is not, you are closer to finding out what it is.
