I think tubeN2 hit it right on. If you want to look for a deal online, first go to your local shop and get and idea of the rod that you want to buy...down to the model number. Then go online and search google for the rod model number and see if you can find it for a few bucks cheaper than the local tackle store.

Shipping on a 1-piece rod is usually a little more expensive due to the oversized packaging required for a 6' or 7' rod. Two piece rods can be shipped much more economically. So, be sure that you figure in the shipping charge when comparing against the local tackle store price.
