braids and monos and all that good stuff...
#1
so ive had an exciting weekend...not really. i helped move my best friend into his dorm at the university of alabama, and while i was down there, i decided to go fishing. i neglected to remember my fishing license, so i got a citation. crap. anyways, before i got cited, i was thinking bout the line i had. it was the pre spooled 25lb line that came on my zebco 808 magnum reel. well, it kept catching in the reel, limiting my casts, so i was thinkin, and i remembered the 30lb spiderwire braided line i had back at home. it had given me all sorts of crap, but the equipment i was using wasnt rated for it. i began thinking about some ugly braid, a line that was recommended in the lil info packet that was attached to my ugly rod. my rod is rated 8-20lb, and the rod is obviously at least rated 25lb lines. so if i got some ugly braid in 20, maybe 15lb sizes, would it cast as smoothly as a mono line, or would it catch and severely limit my casting and make me want to chunk the whole thing into the river?
