Dont forget that there are also rod and reel fisherman that poach too. There are always bad apples. I am a spearfisherman and I can assure you that this is not normal. These jerks shouldnt have been spearing bass in east canyon as its not allowed. They need to read and obey the regulations. They can however spearfish there for carp and thats it. You can spear for carp anywhere here in Utah as they want you to get rid of them. There are only a handful of lakes in Utah that you can spear gamefish and the rules are very strict for spearfisherman. You can only take two gamefish per day. When I go hunt I usually take out the carp for fun as they damage the lakes and try for walleye leaving the rest of the fish (bass, perch, & trout) for rod and reel since I enjoy catching and releasing them just like the rest of you. Its just too bad they did that.
