Pike - Comins Lake
#5
Regarding releasing pike back into Comins Lake. That is a real mistake. When pike were first introduced to Comins around 25 yrs. ago, about the only thing in there were chubs by the bajillions. Within 7 or 8 yrs. the pike had literally eaten themselves out of forage. It was nothing to catch a 24" pike that wouldn't be nearly as big around as your wrist. They are able to reproduce there to the point that they will again overwhelm their food supply and stunt or starve. While this is taking place any trout stocking will wind up at least 90% pike fodder. I grew up in Ely & am pretty sure I know the clown that put the pike back in Comins. Too bad he wasn't caught & strung up.
