Opening Water Safety
#1
As I see the waterways start to open I am reminded of a friend who struck a submerged 10 foot pole in the Fox River some years ago (the boat hull is sort of concave now and the term rivet stress took on a whole new meaning). Caution must be used now, in our time of open water joy, to protect our boats and passengers they carry. Submerged ice can hold on a long time in some waters. Also the spring waters carry many unwanted items into the waterways. Fence posts from a farmers field, wooden pallets, even empty beer kegs have been found afloat. So a word of caution, slow is good, Smile. Be Safe and Love Life.
