I'm amazed to hear this because my experiences at Mead have always been very good. I recommend you try to AZ side of Mead. Specifically, Temple Bar. I have fished and taken houseboats out of every part of Lake Mead....and hands down Temple Bar is the best. Echo Bay comes in dead last. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of Overton Arm either. My experience in Boulder Basin was fine but like you said it does get crowded. This is obviously because it's the closest part of the lake for those coming from Henderson or L.V.
I'm telling you drive the extra 50 miles. It'll be worth it. First, there are very few boats on the lake there, and 80-90% of them are fishermen. You hardly see any jetskis or water skiiers. The fishermen there are pretty courteous, too. There have been times where there are about 10 boats in a deep but narrow cove, and fishermen have always been careful so as to not create wake for the others.
The people working at Temple Bar are extremely friendly, too. I've made a lot of friends there, and I could hardly say that about other areas I have rented houseboats and fishing boats. Anyway, sorry again to hear about your experiences. Hope conditions out there get better soon.
Best regards,
Paul
