First off, Macfly, he sits a little bit higher in the Echo than the H3, but still a butt wetter[cool]
birddogwi An eight foot would be a little short I think for a standing platform, specially as tall as you are. Scadden has the Madison River that is a 9' and has the standing platform. Dennis Brakke from the Fly Desk (where I buy all my supplies plus the H3) has the Madison and it is one sweet ride. I think if I were to ever change from my Cardiac, I would get the Skykomish at 10'6" but then we already have the trailer.
Scadden boats are also wider than most. I have read and my Brothers have both taken their 9' and made them about 10" wider and they are fantastic.
The problem with the standing platform is sliding the whoe frame back as far as you can to balance it and 8 feet doesn't give you much room to do this.
