Couldn't find anyone to take the boat out with, so I hit the Berry solo with the float tube. Left friekin early at 4:15 am to get there by 5:30ish. Had Soldier Creek to myself for the first hour or so and the fishing was super red hot. In the first 10 min. I caught a 25" and a 24" cutt. I was casting a rainbow pointer 78. I then hooked a third fish and felt two tugs and then a limp line - somehow my line broke without much pressure - must have been a flaw in the line from the last fish - $13 down the drain[mad]. As well as those pointers produce, the price sure can be depressing.
So I threw on a ghost brown pointer 78 and managed to nail another 7 in the next hour and a half and then only 1 the last three hours until 10 so I called it quits. I even caught one on a purple wolly bugger and missed two more more hits on it. I was amazed at the average size. Out of the 10 I caught, 4 easily were larger than the slot with the smallest going about 19". The fishing started off red hot and then cooled down as the boats and temperature increased. All fish were caught within 200 yards of the boat ramp - I just kicked back and forth while dodging boats and the fish were in there thick. If you go to Strawberry, go super early and work it hard for a few hours.
Sorry - no pics - cant risk the camera on a float tube.
