I have a rod that was purchased new some years ago. I never used it. It is what I think is a "casting" rod, whereas the reel would be top mounted and there's a finger hook on the handle. The guides are also on the top of the rod.
I've long used a spinning rod/reel by tradition, but I'm curious what place a "spincasting" or casting reel would have in general lake or stream fishing? Whats the difference between the two? I fish from both shore and boat/canoe.
If I can find a place to use this type of set-up, I will purchase a reel for this rod. Thanks for the help!
